Pets fall out of open windows

Many pets are injured because they fall out of open windows in summer heat. It gives busy on the country's animal hospitals.

- It is unfortunately all too much. Here in the last weeks of heat, we have received an animal every second day, which has fallen out the window, "says Ingeborg Mølbak has veterinarian at the Copenhagen Animal Hospital.

She hears about the same image from colleagues at other animal hospitals, and she is annoyed that the owners do not fit better on the animals.

- The owner comes some times and says that the dog or cat has been in the frame for years and has never happened. But it is absolutely no guarantee that the animal did not suddenly reaching for a bird flying over, "says Ingeborg Mølbak.

Damages to dogs and cats are typically broken leg, fractures of the pelvis and injuries to the head.

Network window

Ingeborg Mølbak warns that solves the problem by simply closing the windows.

- They should of course do not die of heatstroke. What one should do if you live in an apartment on a high-altitude chamber, is to put a grid or a network window, so the animal does not dump out, she says.
