Pets get alternative treatment

Nearly half of all Danes have used alternative medicine, and now puts people also have their pets on the bandwagon. It informs Dagbladenes Bureau.
A search on the Internet gives hits on animal care providers who can heal, telepatere, mixing herbs, speaking animal language, or give cranio-sacral massage, and there is even also trained veterinarians who use flowers medicine or kinesiology. However, there is virtually no evidence of anything of it, said Professor Annemarie Thuri Kristensen from the Department of Small Animal Diseases at Copenhagen University.
"The overarching problem is that there are very few studies in this area. But that do not have to mean that it does not work, and you have to deal with that very many see as an alternative treatment option," she says to Dagbladenes Bureau.
Kæleri or healing
Many of those who offer alternative treatments are not veterinary graduates and therefore moving in a border area in relation to veterinary law. It hits settled that veterinarians are the only ones who have to take other people's animals during treatment. But when it comes to defining what is actual treatment, and what is not, it becomes a little less clear, said veterinarian Anne Rath Petersen of the National Food Authority, which encourages people to use their common sense.
"Consideration is something that you normally seeks out for illness, and so will typically connect it to the vets. If a non-veterinarian claims to treat disease, so I think we must be vigilant," she says.

Religion and trickery
Even people who are considering training to be an alternative animal care provider, should look good for before they invest their savings. The Veterinary Association calls the Communications Børge Jørgensen it trickery if you imagine people into thinking that they can become a kind of alternative veterinary medicine.
"This kind of education is nothing veterinarian professionally in. It's - excuse me - about religion," he says.

She hears about the same image from colleagues at other animal hospitals, and she is annoyed that the owners do not fit better on the animals.
- The owner comes some times and says that the dog or cat has been in the frame for years and has never happened. But it is absolutely no guarantee that the animal did not suddenly reaching for a bird flying over, "says Ingeborg Mølbak.
Damages to dogs and cats are typically broken leg, fractures of the pelvis and injuries to the head.
Network window
Ingeborg Mølbak warns that solves the problem by simply closing the windows.
- They should of course do not die of heatstroke. What one should do if you live in an apartment on a high-altitude chamber, is to put a grid or a network window, so the animal does not dump out, she says.

On hot days, they need to cool enough to drink and also animals. Leos Iron vet told CTK that if you are staying in the garden, it is necessary to provide them with shade and plenty of clean water. The apartment should be adequately ventilated to maintain sufficient moisture and administered to animals with fresh water, not ice. Dogs, cats and guinea pigs can also cool off by wetting them with the owner of hair.
"If the animals are in the garden, it is important to them at the current high temperatures to provide shade. It would have to be shed, where the sun is hiding," he said. Animals should be able to freshen up the outside with fresh water. Iron warned against use of cold water, cooling water or even ice.
Especially breeds with long black hair or need a cool coat. Dogs are good sometimes spill over with tepid water, not cold, to suffer thermal shock. Cats are better just to moisturize hair hands.
Dogs, cats or guinea pigs need to be ventilated and the air is reasonably moist. Water should be constantly available. "Housing animals should rub the fur with water, not directly Poliv, just rub it with a damp cloth or wet hands. He picks up the animal by evaporation and cool," said the vet.
The amount of water that an animal of the day, according to him individually. Depends on the type of food the animal receives - if it is fed with pellets, drink more than animals fed wet food. Factors include the size of the animal, the weather and humidity. "However, breeders have any idea how much the animal drinks per day. If the dose goes up in heat two to three times, it's a natural thing," he said.
Animals are also cool in the heat itself - the dogs have sweat glands, and thus the cooling by accelerated breathing with a lolling tongue. Penetrate into the corner and trying to limit any activity. Cats also do not have sweat glands throughout the body, thereby cooling the lick fur.
If the animal can not cool in the heat, risk of overheating and collapse. The animal can also pass out from heat. The owner would have to put cold compresses, spill some water. If this fails, he should promptly take the animal to the vet.

Watch your pets in the heat!

Large temperature fluctuations cause stress response, which operates like any other stress that is weakening the immune system and thus a higher susceptibility to infection. Remember that not all animals have sweat glands and therefore no one can see the sweaty dog or pig. But that some animals do not sweat, it does not suffer from sunburn or sunstroke.
Termoreguluje dog so that the reptilian tongue, and breathing rapidly. The faster you breathe, the more efficiently cools down. A cat in heat reduces its activity and procumbent and looks shady places. Poultry behaves similarly seek shade and natřásá feathers, to allow better cooling of the skin. In the event of overheating the birds beak přiotevřený, difficult breathing and lethargic. Conversely, the horse is able to perspire and so nicely it should be after work or after driving vyvěchtovat dry straw.
Every owner should have good knowledge of its manifestations and behavior of the animal and should be ready for such extreme conditions, such as the current summer heat wave. If the animals are done in the apartment, it is good to draw the curtains, especially if the apartment is located south, west or overtly. Leave přiotevřené window and always have animals available for drinking.
